Caribou Meatloaf

Today at work I was asked the question, "Have you ever tried the Caribou Meatloaf?"
"No, I haven't," I replied.
"Do you think there's actually caribou in it?"
"...yes, I do."

Americans are funny. Some of them. Not all... I can't always tell if people are Canadian or American, but I'm getting better at it. The same people asked, half-seriously, "Where do you get your water from? The river?" Sometimes you just have to smile and walk away.

I'm still enjoying my job as a waitress. I'm building great relationships with my co-workers, and still having good chats with my customers. I met a lady from Wingham today(a town close to my home), which was neat. This week I've had all morning shifts, which I enjoy - even though it means getting up at 4:45 every morning, I have afternoons and evenings off. This is great, because I'm starting to get busy with activities! It's exciting! I've joined a yoga class, and though I am fairly terrible at it, my body always feels better afterwards. Yesterday, Stephanie and I joined a small singing group, which consists of two sopranos(Beth and Heidi), two altos(me and Steph) a piano player(Sue-Sue) and a tenor/bass(Justin). It was SO GREAT to sing in parts again!! I found out about it through Heidi(she works with Steph at the front desk), who one day asked me if I sang, and if I'd like to be a part of their group. Surprisingly enough, Beth is a girl that I know from Sackville -- she graduated from the MTA music program last year!! It is awesome to hang out with her and sing with her - she has such a beautiful voice! Justin is the lead singer in THE show at Gertie's, the casino, and Sue-Sue is a great piano player(she sings as well). Steph and I are very excited about this group!

I'm also getting involved with church stuff. Kevin and Cindy have recently become the pastors of their church. The first Sunday we went, there were 7 people. It was still a great service. At our first prayer meeting, we prayed that lots of people would go to church -- not necessarily our church, but church in general. The next week at church, we had 28 people! The number of people QUADRUPLED!! It was awesome. I led worship -- just me and my guitar, and it was great. Ah, God is good.

Our Bible study is going well too -- last Friday night we drove up to a mountain with a bunch of kids and played Capture the Flag. It was so much fun -- I loved meeting some younger people and just running around and being crazy. Around midnight, we stopped playing and sat down on the side of the mountain for worship. The sun was just "setting", and we were surrounded by beautiful scenery. Praise God for that.

Steph and Kyle's friend Scott arrived the other day, and we had a BBQ for him. Steph and I spent the better part of the day preparing -- shopping, making brownies and cake and cutting up veggies. It was a blast. We had some people over from work and good times were had by all. Scott is a recent highschool grad who is working at the hotel as the night janitor and houseperson. He is a really nice guy, and I'm looking forward to getting to know him.

I have an interesting predicament with a certain fellow whom Cindy likes to call "Mr. Casanova." I'm too scared he'll find my blog and read it, so I won't put any details up here! If you want to know more... email me. :)

So just in case you haven't gathered from my news, things here are fantastic. Spending time with Steph and Kyle has been more fun than I ever could've imagined. Kevin, Cindy, Grace and Mercy are so awesome to live with. It is hot hot hot... it feels like summer!

Well, I think that's about all for now. Thanks for reading! I'd love to hear from you!

*God, thank You again so so much for letting me be here! Thank You for the singing group that Steph and I are involved with, and I pray that You would help us to build solid relationships with Sue-Sue, Heidi, Justin and Beth. Thank You for my job and for this town... I pray that Your love would be so evident here. Help us to live for You and serve You, and help us to know what You want us to do here!! You are awesome! In Jesus' name, Amen.*
