SOUTH AFRICA, BABY!!!

That's right, my friends! We finally found out where our group is going for outreach in January. When the location was announced, everyone yelled and cheered - we're all so excited! Our class is splitting up into two teams - one is going to Cape Town, and the other to Jeffrey's Bay. We may or may not switch locations during the two months. We don't really know anything else about the outreach phase, but we'll be discussing and planning for that until Christmas! Hooray! This is somewhere that I've always wanted to go. I think there will be a lot of opportunities to work in orphanages, which is like a dream come true for me. So praise the Lord!

Wow. So many things have happened this week. Our speaker was a really cute old man named Walden Owen. He talked about Creation vs. Evolution, dinosaurs, the Flood, and so many other interesting things. I learned a lot from him. If you want to know more about what I learned, contact me.. a lot of what we learned is pretty controversial and I don't want to stir up a ruckus here, hahaha!

This weekend was pretty eventful - on Friday night we piled into vehicles and headed to downtown Orlando for street evangelism. We drove to the top of a parking lot building for worship and prayer, and then got into groups and hit the streets. It was my first time doing anything like that, and it was very interesting. To be honest, it was difficult. Approaching random people and starting conversations is harder than I thought because most people just don't want to talk to the "Jesus people". I'm hoping I'll learn some more tactics before we go out again.

On Saturday, we went out to a Mexican restaurant called Don Pablo's to celebrate my housemate Danae's birthday. We had a great time - afterwards we played games at the boys' house and then went to Starbucks, which is a fabulous little place. I'd never really been, because who needs Starbucks when you've got Timmy's? On Sunday I went to a little Baptist church down the road - I'd like to get involved in their Sunday School program if possible. Then a bunch of us drove to St. Cloud to go rope swinging! It was so much fun - I felt like I was in the jungle(see photo). Today I learned that alligators inhabit just about every lake in Florida. Yikes.

Jumping into alligator infested waters...

Danae's birthday hat:

This'll just have to do til I get back to Canada...

Everything else is going well - I'm loving my roommates more and more, even Christina, who insists on making fun of my Canadianisms every chance she can get. She's just jealous...

Tomorrow will be my one month anniversary here. I feel like I've been here for so much longer than that - in a good way. I love it here. Though today it is SO HOT. Oh my. I don't know how I'm going to handle the South African heat!!

Love and miss you all.

Hey Lindsay! I am so happy that you're going to South Africa! Too bad you're not going to Bethlehem! That would be awesome if you went to my base! I met staff from both J-bay and Muizenberg bases and of course they were awesome. You're going to have such an awesome time! It's crazy that you might spend your whole outreach at one place, I've never done that, we've always moved around to different places. But it's cool because than you'll get a chance to know the people there a bit! Anyway love you!
